Bima Sakhi Yojana

Launched by: Ministry of Rural Development in partnership with LIC

Objective: Appoint trained SHG women as Bima Sakhis at Gram Panchayat level to expand insurance coverage

Goal: Support "Insurance for All by 2047" and women’s financial empowerment

Supports:

– Lakhpati Didi Mission (Target: 2 crore women by Aug 15, 2025)

– SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Role of Bima Sakhis:

– Act as local insurance facilitators

– Deliver trust-based services in rural areas

– Promote financial inclusion and disaster protection
